Major Investment Made in Downtown East Liverpool
EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio – Gov. Mike DeWine announced that the state of Ohio is partnering with the city of East Liverpool to support the renovation of two downtown buildings.
The Thompson Building, which first opened in 1892, sits on the Diamond, with its upper windows missing or boarded up. The rounded corner of the building is a historic, architectural feature.
The building that houses the Buckeye Online School for Success was built in the 1930s and was at one point a JCPenny store. Soon, it will be home to the new corporate headquarters of True North. JobsOhio contributed $700,000 from its vibrant communities grant program to help restore the building. The total investment from that program to revive both buildings comes to a total of $1.3 million.
