Mangan Named Director of Peace and Justice for Catholic Charities

YOUNGSTOWN, OH – Catholic Charities, Diocese of Youngstown announces the hiring of Robert (R.J.) Mangan to the newly-created position of director of peace and justice. He began his tenure with Catholic Charities July 25.

The position is designed to promote the themes of Catholic social teaching, particularly the dignity of the human person, through education, advocacy and prayer. In this role, Mangan will provide opportunities for the Catholic faithful to engage with various aspects of the Church’s robust social mission, coordinating and collaborating with others of good will to influence public policy for the sake of the common good.

Additional responsibilities to be held by Mangan include serving as the diocesan director for local Catholic Campaign for Human Development and Catholic Relief Services efforts.

Mangan is a graduate of Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, with a B.A. in politics and theology. Mangan spent a year in the M.A. program at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. He earned a Master of Theological Studies from the School of Theology and Ministry at Boston College in 2021.
