Manufacturers Invited to Help Build the Guide to 21st Century Talent

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Area manufacturers are invited to participate in workshops hosted by America Makes and the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition for the Building the Guide to 21st Century Talent initiative.

Led by MVMC, America Makes and other partners, the goal is to design an effective guide to address workplace challenges, including recruitment and onboarding, work-based learning and career pathways, according to a press release. The partners are seeking insight from their members and other industry representatives to provide insight.

“We’re looking for individuals involved in the recruiting, onboarding, orienting and training processes to participate in up to three facilitated workshops as part of this project,” the release states. “They can be anyone from production personnel to trainers of new hires to HR professionals or company executives.”

Small- and medium-sized manufacturers are encouraged to participate. Workshops will include manufacturing industry representatives, community leaders and other industry-affiliated partners.

The first workshop is scheduled for March 14 and will focus on challenges with recruitment and on boarding. Additional workshops are tentatively scheduled for April 1 and May 10, and will focus on work-based learning, and career pathways and progressive training modules, respectively.

Each workshop runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will take place at America Makes at 2236 West Boardman St. Lunch will be provided.
