Manufacturing Camp Gives Girls Hands-On Experience
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Through the Mahoning Valley Summer Manufacturing Camp, fourth through eighth grade students have been given the chance to learn about careers in their communities, tour local manufacturing facilities, and learn from STEM experts.
Students are learning how products are made, participating in team-building exercises, and working on a variety of hands-on projects.
“I think people have the wrong idea about manufacturing,” says Varada Bhide, COO of the YWCA Mahoning Valley. “We are trying to show girls that manufacturing of today is different from years or decades ago.”
