Events to Celebrate Warren Hospital’s 100th Anniversary

WARREN – Mercy Health St. Joseph Warren Hospital is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and the community is invited to share in the milestone.

A special Mass will be held Nov. 19, followed by a cocktail hour, a dinner and a program at the Eastwood Event Centre in Niles.

Founded in 1924 by Dr. Chester Waller as the 50-bed Riverside Hospital, the hospital was purchased by the Sisters of the Humility of Mary after Waller’s death.

In 1996, the hospital moved to Eastland Avenue and became St. Joseph Warren Hospital.

“For 100 years, Mercy Health St. Joseph Warren Hospital has cared for Trumbull County, extending the compassionate ministry of Jesus by improving the health and well-being of our communities and bringing good help to those in need, especially people who are poor, dying and underserved,” said Char Gardiner, president of Mercy Health St. Joseph Warren Hospital. “We stand on the legacy of the Sisters of the Humility of Mary and continue to build on their good works. As we celebrate the history of St. Joseph Warren Hospital and reflect on the significance of the last century, we look forward to the next 100 years and beyond.”

The Most Rev. David J. Bonnar will conduct the Mass at 5 p.m. Reservations are not required for the Mass. However, tickets are required for the cocktail hour, dinner and program. Ticket and table sponsorship information is available HERE.

Joshua Triplett, a Youngstown native, will serve as master of ceremonies. Triplett has appeared on television shows “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Rookie” and “The Neighborhood” and played the lead role in the feature film “Forty-Seven Days with Jesus.”

The event will be hosted by the Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley.

“Every day, Trumbull County residents turn to Mercy Health St. Joseph Warren Hospital for lifesaving, life-changing care,” said Paul Homick, president of Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley. “Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley is proud to host these events honoring the enduring tradition of the hospital, its staff and Catholic health care in the Mahoning Valley. We hope the community will join us in supporting the beating heart of health care in Trumbull County.”
