Mayweather Boxing & Fitness Coming to Southern Park Mall

BOARDMAN, Ohio — The future Mayweather Boxing & Fitness gym coming to the Southern Park Mall will begin offering membership presales Nov. 29.

Presales will be offered in person at the gym, which is currently under construction at 7401 Market St., Suite 201. The gym is set to open in late winter or early spring, according to a press release.

In 2018, undefeated pro boxer Floyd Mayweather (50-0) opened his first gym franchise in California. With more than 100 franchises in development, the company projects 500 global locations within five years, according to the release.

“We moved quickly when the opportunity became available to join forces with the fastest growing fitness enterprise in America,” according to the Boardman location’s President and CEO Jason Franklin and co-owners Lawrence Carbone and Jamie Traylor. “There were nearly 6,000 gym applications filed and, luckily, ours was selected.”

The group fitness concept at the gym is based on Mayweather’s own programs and workouts. Virtual reality training will allow members to train with Mayweather. Each class consists of 12 rounds of boxing and functional training, according to the release.
