MCCTC Opens Registration for Machining Program

CANFIELD, Ohio — Mahoning County Career & Technical School opened registration for its machining program today. Students who will enter their junior year of high school in August and attend school in Mahoning County are eligible to register.

The machining program has articulation agreements with Youngstown State University and ITT Technical Institute and is certified by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills.

In 2013, MCCTC says, companies in the five-county area filled 196 machinist positions and 300 more are expected to be created due to industry growth and retiring workers.

“A clear demand exists in the field of manufacturing for trained machinists. Wages for this trade are competitive in the region and the opportunity for advancement is high,” the technical center said in a news release.
