MCCTC Students Soar at Aviation Maintenance Contest
CANFIELD, Ohio – Two students in the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center’s aviation maintenance program took second and third place at the SkillsUSA state competition April 23.
At Columbus Community College’s aviation hangar, Austintown senior Damian Devito and South Range junior Rawson Hurst were awarded the silver and bronze medals. For the contest, the two had to test their skills in weight and balance, sheet metal, basic electricity, technical data, safety wiring and hardware identification.
The aviation maintenance program at MCCTC is a two-year program teaching technical skills needed to get Federal Aviation Administration certification as an airframe and power plant technician.
