MCPH Features Ed O’Neill in Healthy Holiday Season PSA
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — As COVID-19 positivity numbers continue to rise, Mahoning County Public Health is rolling out a PSA campaign to encourage everyone to stay safe and healthy as the holiday season begins featuring Youngstown native and Emmy Nominated actor, Ed O’Neill.
“This is a crucial time as we’re seeing the numbers of positive COVID cases rise with the holiday season approaching,” said Mahoning County Health Commissioner Ryan Tekac. “We reached out to Jeff Ryznar and his team at 898 Marketing, and they came through with a great plan by securing Ed O’Neill to help spread our message. We know that people are tired and want their sense of normalcy back, but we need everyone to remain vigilant and healthy.”

The campaign, through the encouragement of O’Neill who safely recorded this at his home, reminds everyone to:
- Wear a mask
- Wash their hands
- Keep socially distanced
- Receive an annual flu shot
“This holiday season, more than ever, we need to look out for each other,” O’Neill said in the PSA. “Help make sure that everyone in Mahoning County has a happy and healthy holiday season.”
The commercial can be seen across various programming on local broadcast TV stations including WKBN, WYTV, WYFX, and WFMJ as well as MCPH’s social media platforms and an extensive digital campaign.
O’Neill, an Emmy nominated actor and star of long-running TV series including “Married… with Children” and “Modern Family,” was born and reared in Youngstown. He is an alumnus of Ursuline High School and Youngstown State University.
