Media Report Anticipates Ivanka Trump Visit Saturday
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Ivanka Trump, eldest daughter of President Donald Trump and a key adviser to the president, will campaign for her father Saturday in Niles, just days before Tuesday’s general election, according to a media report.
The Spectrum News report cites an unidentified Trump campaign spokesperson as its source. The campaign has yet to send out an advisory advancing the event or respond to requests to confirm it is taking place.
If confirmed, the visit would represent the second visit to the Mahoning Valley by a member of the Trump family this week. Her older brother, Donald Trump Jr., campaigned for her father Monday in Youngstown.
With the election a week away, polls show Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden running neck and neck in Ohio, a state that Trump won by eight percentage points in 2016 and was expected to be solidly in the Republican column earlier this year.
Trump received stronger than expected support in 2016 in the primarily Democratic Mahoning Valley, beating Hillary Clinton in Trumbull County and narrowly losing to her in Mahoning County.
Recent polls by Quinnipiac, Rasmussen Reports and The New York Times/Siena College show Biden with a one-percentage point lead, a Fox News poll shows Trump up by three, a Trafalgar Group poll has the president up by four, and a CBS News/YouGov poll has the two tied.
Ivanka Trump had been scheduled to visit Youngstown in August 2019 for an event highlighting her father’s Opportunity Zone program. Her appearance was canceled following a mass shooting in Dayton.
