Members of Operation Grant

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Members of Operation Grant, an Ohio-based group affiliated with Republican Voters Against Trump and The Lincoln Project, spoke downtown Wednesday about why they are supporting Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

The Ohio-based group, Operation Grant, is named after President Ulysses S. Grant, who was born in Point Pleasant. They adopted the name because “Gen. Grant rose to the moment at a critical time in American history” as commanding general for the Union Army during the Civil War, said Phil Heimlich.

“We are asking reasonable Republicans throughout this state to rise to the moment and restore decency and integrity to this country by voting for Joe Biden in this election,” said the former assistant prosecutor and Republican commissioner for Hamilton County.
