Mercer County Career Center Awarded Nearly $80K

MERCER, Pa. – Mercer County Career Center was awarded $79,546 as part of a program to purchase new equipment to help train students in high-demand occupations.

Eligible school districts and career and technical centers needed to administer eight or more programs approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

“Our state, like many across the country, is facing a labor shortage,” said state Rep. Parke Wentling of Mercer, R-7th. “This funding will be used to help students from our area be ready to hit the ground running when the time comes to enter the workforce. These programs are important now more than ever.”

There are more than 80 career and technical centers in Pennsylvania that offer a combination of classes and hands-on learning in programs approved by the Department of Education. Thousands of students earn industry credentials or certifications for jobs in high demand.
