Mercy Health Earns Laboratory Accreditation with Exemplary Status

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Mercy Health recently earned the highest designation of Electrodiagnostic Laboratory Accreditation given by the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine – Laboratory Accreditation with Exemplary Status. 

Mercy Health has been accredited since May 2012 and is one of only eight accredited labs in Ohio, a news release states. The reaccreditation is valid through 2027. 

“Mercy Health is proud to receive the highest designation of Electrodiagnostic Laboratory Accreditation once again by the AANEM,” said Dr. Stephanie Kopey, laboratory medical director at Mercy Health Youngstown. “This reaccreditation underscores our labs commitment to providing the highest quality, compassionate health care for patients.”

EDX medicine is a subspecialty that focuses on the nervous system and diagnosing the cause of symptoms related to neurologic, neuromuscular and muscular impairments. Specifically, EDX is used to evaluate a patient’s nerves and muscles to treat pain, tingling, numbness, weakness, cramping and more.

EDX Laboratory Accreditation recognizes laboratories for maintaining the highest level of quality, performance and integrity based on AANEM’s professional standards.
