Mercy Health Finalizes Contract with Cigna

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Mercy Health has a new agreement with Cigna of Ohio for its hospitals and medical groups in Ohio.

The agreement means patients with Cigna of Ohio insurance will continue to have benefits when receiving care at Mercy Health hospitals and medical groups within Ohio, Mercy Health spokeswoman Kara Franz said in an emailed statement.

“Access to quality health care services is vital for our community members,” she said. “We are glad to have reached a new agreement that protects our patients’ access to care in their communities.”

Without an agreement, Mercy health said its medical groups in Ohio and hospitals in Youngstown, Cincinnati, Lima and Lorain would no longer be in-network providers with Cigna of Ohio insurance.

“We understand that the possibility of Mercy Health being out of network was difficult for our patients with Cigna insurance. By advocating for fair market rates, we advocated for the citizens of our community to have access to high-quality health care in their neighborhood,” Franz said.

“At Mercy Health, our goal is to have long-term agreements with all major payers, including Cigna, so our patients can have easy access to quality care in our community,” she continued. “That is why we diligently worked to resolve this situation for the good of this community, and we thank the community for their patience throughout this process.”
