Mercy Health Lauded for Helping Women Employees Thrive

YOUNGSTOWN – Bon Secours Mercy Health was recently recognized for its support of women and their careers in leadership roles with its hospitals, facilities and in the medical field.

Mercy Health was named a 2024 Top Companies for Executive Women and a 2024 Best Companies for Multicultural Women.

Mercy Health, which has several facilities in the Mahoning Valley, including both St. Elizabeth Boardman and Youngstown, was recognized by Seramount, a strategic professional services and research form dedicated to supporting high-performing and inclusive workplaces.

The Top Companies for Executive Women list celebrates companies that champion the achievements of women in the organization and focuses on succession planning, profit-and-loss roles, gender-pay parity, support and flexibility programs. It includes a wide-array of companies in not only the healthcare field, but also banking, insurance, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, non-profits, fashion, retail and many others. “We’re honored to be again named a Top Company for Executive Women by Seramount,” said Nicole Martel, vice president of BSMH Benefits & Well-being. “This recognition is a testament to our ministry’s commitment to the growth and development of our female leaders and to offering benefits and services such as our paid parental leave, education benefits, and Be Well program that support associates across our organization – and we have exciting new things to come in 2025.”

Additionally, Mercy Health was listed on the Best Companies for Multicultural Women list., which assesses progress for women by specific racial/ethnic groups, by looking at the factors influencing the progress such as mental health, anti-racism programs, mentoring and sponsorship programs. Again the list included a wide-array of corporations.

“We are so proud to be named a Best Company for Multicultural Women by Seramount,” said Odesa Stapleton, chief diversity and inclusion officer for BSMH. “This recognition not only celebrates our commitment to supporting the careers of multicultural women in our organization, but it also reaffirms our focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion to strengthen our connection to our patients, communities, and each other.”
