Mercy to Honor Three with Health Care Visionary Awards
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Mercy Health Foundation Mahoning Valley will honor the recipients of this year’s Health Care Visionary Awards during a dinner Wednesday at The Vineyards at Pine Lake in North Lima.
The honorees are Ralph “Skip” Barone of Our Community Kitchen, the Rev. Dr. Lewis Macklin III of Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and Bridget Lackey of Mercy Health.
Barone will receive the Heart of the Mission Award. He has been manager of Our Community Kitchen since it opened in 2016. The kitchen is open six days a week and has served more than 300,000 meals, as well as provided a place of respite for those in need.
Macklin is the recipient of the Mahoning Valley Leadership in Health Award. As pastor at Holy Trinity, he helped create the African American Male Wellness Walk, which draws thousands of families every year and is the second-largest in the country.
Lackey is Mercy’s community health educator and the recipient of the Continuing the Legacy Award. She has helped establish farmers markets in the Mahoning Valley, as well as create the prescription food and double up SNAP benefits programs at those markets.
