Millennial Theatre Unveils Season: ‘Grease,’ ‘Rocky Horror,’ ‘Avenue Q’ and ‘Spongebob’

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — The Millennial Theatre Co.’s 2022-23 season will consist of four musicals, including two fan favorites in “Grease” and “The Rocky Horror Show,” the comedy “Avenue Q” and the Valley premiere of “The Spongebob Musical.”

No season tickets or subscriptions will be sold for this season. Instead, all tickets will be sold individually by show, with tickets going on sale two months prior to opening night.

All sales will be online at MillennialTheatre.org and all seats are $20, unless otherwise stated.

Here’s a look at the season:

“Grease, the Musical,” July 29-31, Aug. 5-7, at The Youngstown Playhouse: Romance, hot rods and a slew of hit songs define this fun musical set among the gang at fictional Rydell High School in 1959.

“The Rocky Horror Show,” Nov. 5-7, B&O Station, Youngstown: Back by popular demand after MTC’s sold-out run last year, it will feature the same cast and creative team.

“Avenue Q,” January (dates to be determined), Hopewell Theatre. In the style of a popular children’s educational TV show, this adult spoof looks in on the denizens of a New York neighborhood as they struggle to find jobs, dates and their  purpose in life. Featuring custom puppets by local puppet designer Lynn Ohle.

“The Spongebob Musical,” summer of 2023 (dates and venue to be determined). As Bikini Bottom faces annihilation, an unexpected hero rises up and proves the power of optimism. Based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg and featuring original songs by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! At the Disco, Plain White T’s, They Might Be Giants and T.I.
