Models Needed for American Girl Fashion Show Benefit
BOARDMAN, Ohio — Plans are underway and models are being sought for a series of American Girl Fashion Show events that will be held March 5 and 6 at Antone’s Banquet Centre here. Proceeds from the shows, presented by the Kids’ Crew of Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, will benefit local programs and services of the hospital.
Models must be a size 10 or size 6x in order to wear the clothing provided by American Girl. There will also be a limited number of modeling opportunities for girls of other sizes, but those models must purchase their own outfits from a list of pre-approved selections.
The American Girl Fashion Show is a program recommended for children ages 6 and up that combines education, fashion and goodwill. Matching outfits for girls and their dolls are featured, and local models will present the fashions amid commentary, music and decorations, organizers said. Featured will be historical clothing, from daywear to sleepwear to special-occasion clothing that resembles what the popular American Girl characters might have worn. Contemporary “Just Like You” outfits for older girls and fashions for little ones complete the program.
Approximately 50 models are needed for each of the four fashion shows. Modeling opportunities are open to the public. Models will be selected based on their poise, confidence and stage presence. Girls must attend one of the model calls to be considered. Dates and times are as follows:
- Jan. 17, anytime between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
- Jan. 21, anytime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
- Jan. 23, anytime between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Model calls will be held in the Community Room on the first floor of Building C on the Beeghly campus here. Potential models must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and bring the completed application form, plus a full-length color photo. The materials can be requested by calling 330 746 8712 or going to this website.
Once selected, models must be available to attend a fitting on Feb. 6, as well as rehearsals on Feb. 27 and March 4, in addition to their assigned show time. There is no fee to audition, but once selected, each girl who wishes to participate in the show will be required to pay a $25 model registration fee (due at model fitting).
The American Girl Fashion Show events will include refreshments, party favors, door prizes and raffles featuring American Girl merchandise. Sponsorship opportunities, program book ads and VIP family tables are available. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Tickets are $30 per person and can be ordered by calling the number above or going to the website.
