Mohip to Form CEO’s Citizens Coalition
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The CEO of the Youngstown City School District, Krish Mohip, is seeking public input to help shape his goals and vision for the schools by establishing the CEO’s Citizens Coalition.
“The CCC will be a group of concerned citizens and businesspeople from the Mahoning Valley who will provide me with guidance and assistance as we move forward to transform our school district,” Mohip said in a release.
Mohip stressed that the coalition will augment rather than replace the community input process he’s used since his arrival at at the city schools.
“I still plan to convene community meetings to inform some of my decisions and collect feedback on our initiatives,” he said. “This is just another more formal and structured piece of that.”
Mohip envisions a group of 10 to 15 people from all walks of life and professions. He hopes the coalition is broad-based and that its composition reflects that of the schools.
“I’m not looking for a bunch of yes-men and yes-women,” he said. “I want people who will level with me and give me their honest opinions. No sugar-coating required.”
Those selected will be on the coalition for one year without pay. The group will meet monthly.
Applications for the CEO’s Citizens Coalition are available on the district’s website, YCSD.org. The deadline to submit an application is Aug. 11, with selections made by Aug. 25.
