Murray to Direct Senior Care at Jewish Federation Agencies
YOUNGSTOWN — Richard Marlin, Youngstown Area Jewish Federation board president, and Andrew Lipkin, Federation executive vice-president, are announcing the hiring of Eric Murray as executive director of senior care and services. He will oversee Heritage Manor Rehabilitation & Retirement Community and Adult Day Services and Levy Gardens Assisted Living Facility. His start date is March 9.
Murray has over 20 years of progressive healthcare experience in a variety of settings including hospital, inpatient rehabilitation, therapy services, skilled nursing/long term care, home health, hospice, and private duty nursing.
Originally beginning his professional journey as a licensed physical therapist, Murray continued to accept greater responsibilities over his 21 years with Alliance Community Hospital, eventually serving as the vice president of post acute care.
Murray was instrumental in the development of a high quality post acute network that worked with area physicians, hospitals, and nursing homes to develop initiatives designed to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction, while reducing the cost of delivering care.
“Senior care services, including nursing facilities, adult day care centers and assisted living facilities, will continue to play a greater role in shaping the future of healthcare delivery. The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation’s commitment to the senior community through Heritage Manor, Levy Gardens, and its adult day care services provides a tremendous opportunity to be a strong partner to the Youngstown community. We have an excellent story to share and look forward to playing an integral role in the delivery of high quality healthcare services in the Youngstown area,” Murray said.
Murray is a licensed nursing home administrator, certified executive for assisted living, and a certified executive for home care and hospice. He graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science in physical therapy and the University of Akron where he earned an MBA with a concentration in finance.
Murray and his wife Holly live in Salem. They have three children. In addition to being involved in several community initiatives, Murray enjoys the outdoors and hopes to one day bicycle across the United States.
Heritage Manor is rated a five-star skilled nursing facility by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and is the only Veterans Administration approved provider of long term care services in Mahoning County. It offers long-term care, respite care, adult day services, outpatient therapy, and rehabilitation.
Levy Gardens facilitates all practical efforts for tenants to achieve and maintain the highest quality of life, with a reasonable level of independence. Tenants receive on-site support for daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and medication management, while maintaining their independence.
Heritage Manor and Levy Gardens are agencies of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation.
