MVCAP Awards 22 Students $1,000 Scholarships
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Mahoning Valley College Access Program presented $1,000 scholarships to 22 area students Thursday in a ceremony at the Jewish Community Center.
“This is an event where we get to recognize our students and encourage them.” said Lita Willis, executive director of the program “We also take it as a time to let our students know that even though they have graduated high school, they can still call on us in their college years as a resource.”
College Access Program provides advisers to help students at Warren G. Harding High School, Youngstown Early College, and East, Chaney and Choffin high schools in Youngstown through the challenges they face.
Students receiving scholarships from Harding High School are Noah Diehl, Erika Sitch, Nakea Wilson, Gianna Jones, Marcquise Allgood and D’Ann Toles.
From Youngstown City Schools are Erin Bailey, Trinity Johnson, Miracle Nolan, Clemente Rodriguez, Tyra Finley, Andrew Lee, Miy’keysha Collina, Tatiana Molina and Shiree Wilson.
Abby Pratt and Rachel Ward of McDonald High School also received scholarships.
Mahoning Valley College Access Program also provided Year 2 scholarships to Gabrielle Jones, Da;Jahnae Provitt, Yesarily Sanchez, Jensen Silbaugh and Victoria Woods.
