Mycap Employment Skills Program Begins Jan. 28
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership will host its first Employment Skills and Training program of the year beginning Jan. 28.
The program will cover motivational training, interviewing techniques, computer literacy, financial literacy, mock job interviews, resume writing and placement assistance. All participants will receive a free portfolio, interview clothing
To take part in the program, candidates must attend one of Mycap’s information sessions. Two sessions per day – 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. – are scheduled on Jan. 7-10, Jan. 14-17 and Jan. 22-24. Sessions cover details of the program and what is expected of participants in the Employment Skills and Training Program. Financial assistance may also be available to aid in barriers caused by the lack of a drivers license or GED, regardless of financial or criminal background.
All sessions and classes will be held at Mycap’s office, 1325 Fifth Avenue in Youngstown.
Candidates must live in Mahoning County, be 18 or older with a high school diploma or be working toward a GED and be at or below 125% of the federal poverty line. They must also bring proof of income for the past 90 days. Veterans, those with legal problems and those who have been unemployed long-term are encouraged to attend.
