NEOMED Seeks Patients to Assist in Student Training
ROOTSTOWN, Ohio – The Wasson Center at Northeast Ohio Medical University is seeking standardized patients to assist in training and educating health care providers.
Standardized patients are individuals trained to portray patients with a certain medical condition, such as a chronic headache or stomach pain. Students interview the patients to practice their communication and physical examination skills.
Opportunities for standardized patients are available to people of all ages and participants are compensated.
Standardized patients can participate in a variety of simulations that they have an interest in, such as interviews or encounters involving physical examinations and diagnosis exercises.
These simulations take place between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday or evening activities. Times and compensation vary depending on the activity.
