New Business Filings in Ohio Keep Record-Setting Pace
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Following up on a record-setting 2020, new business filings with the Ohio Secretary of State started out the new year on a high note with 16,018 in January.
That number, Secretary of State Frank LaRose reported, is 33% higher than January 2020, when just over 12,000 filings were submitted.
“In this new year, full of hope in the face of COVID’s continued threat, Ohioans persist in following their American dream of creating a business,” he said in a statement. “Few actions, combined with hard work, can transform a family and provide generational wealth like a small business can. I continue to encourage Ohioans to search out and patronize small businesses in their communities.”
In 2020, there were 171,073 new businesses filed to operate in Ohio, shattering the previous record of 130,621, set in 2019.
