New-Business Filings Rise 17.6% in October
COLUMBUS, Ohio – New-business filings in Ohio rose 17.6% in October compared to the year before, according to figures from the Ohio Secretary of State’s office. In total, 10,876 entities filed to do business in the state last month.
The gains keep the state on track for another record year for new-business filings. So far this year, 107,375 entities have filed paperwork with the state, up 7,386 from 2017.
Last year was the eighth consecutive year of record filings, the office reports, with 117,429 new businesses filing with the office.
Of the businesses filing with the state last month, the majority – 7,683 – were LLCs, while 1,237 trade names were registered. In addition, 929 domestic corporations and 262 foreign corporations were set up.
Since the Secretary of State’s office launched Ohio Business Central, the online portal to complete filings, 468,410 businesses have registered online.
