New-Business Filings Total 11K in May
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio is off to its fastest five-month start to the year for new-business filings, reports Secretary of State Frank LaRose, as nearly 60,000 businesses have submitted paperwork to do business in the state.
Compared to the same period a year ago, filings are up 3,089 from a year ago, totaling 59,444 as of May 31. In May alone, 11,099 new entities filed with the Secretary of State’s office
“As Ohio’s business climate continues to strengthen, our office stands ready to help connect entrepreneurs to the resources they need to succeed and grow,” LaRose said in a statement. “2019 can now boast five straight months of robust new business creation.”
In April, 12,285 businesses filed paperwork with the state, while a record 13,747 filed in March.
