New School of Performing Arts to Open This Month
WARREN, Ohio – A new performing arts school will open this semester, with classes taking place in the theater building of Kent State University at Trumbull.
Hart’s School of Performing Arts will begin classes Sept. 26, with auditions scheduled for the week of Sept. 12. For information or to make an appointment, call 330 240 5567 or email [email protected].
The school is under the leadership of Shiloh Hart, a Niles native and a 2011 graduate of the Akron School for the Arts. Her goal is to bridge the gap in arts education from the youth to collegiate levels.
Hart’s first love is musical theater, and she has performed in over a hundred musical theater performances throughout the area.
In 2014, she turned her focus to songwriting and signed with a Nashville, Tenn., production company. She performed frequently in the Music City and also wrote and co-produced music with other artists.
The initial eight-week course will include 12 students, Hart said. Audition dates are posted on hartsschoolofperformingarts.com, under scheduling and services.
In addition to workshops, classes and shows, Hart will private voice and piano lessons.
Denzy Washington will be the guest coach for character development. Washington’s credits include stage, television and film work, including the role of Antonio on Showtime’s “The Effects.”
Hart said that other guest coaches will be added to the school’s roster.
