New Vehicle Sales Improve Among Local Buyers

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sales of new cars and trucks to residents of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties improved during September compared with year-ago numbers, according to the latest data from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association.

Local buyers scooped up 2,203 new vehicles during the month, compared with 1,964 sold during September 2022, an increase of 12%, data show.

Toyota of Boardman reported the most new vehicle sales during the month with 144, the report shows. Boardman Subaru said it sold 133 new units; Ken Ganley of Boardman reported the third-highest volume sales of new vehicles with 128; Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown said it sold 119 new cars and trucks; and #1 Cochran of Boardman reported new vehicle sales of 110 units.

Sales of used vehicles, on the other hand, dropped in September compared with the same period in 2022, the report said.

Dealers sold 1,909 used cars and trucks to buyers in the Mahoning Valley last month, a 14% drop from the 2,240 used vehicles sold in September 2022, according to the report.

New and used vehicle sales combined stood at 4,166 units in September 2023, a 2.2% drop from 4,260 new and used vehicles sold during the same period last year, the report said.
