Next Generation Focuses on Fresh Ideas for St. Joe’s Site
WARREN, Ohio – The former St. Joseph Riverside Hospital has sat vacant along the Mahoning River for more than two decades. Demolition began in December last year, but the future of the eyesore is unknown.
Wiley Runnestrand, a principal at Sapientia Ventures LLC, reached out to the Kent State College of Architecture and Environmental Design to enlist students to envision uses for the site.
This approach not only provides fresh ideas for the site, but it also signals a generational shift in thinking that unlocks new potential for the entire Mahoning Valley, Runnestrand says.
