Nine Well Permits Issued by ODNR
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources awarded nine permits for horizontal drilling in the Utica-Point Pleasant shale play in the week ended Dec. 7.
Seven permits were granted to Ascent Resources Utica LLC for wells in Belmont County, while the remaining two were for EAP Ohio LLC wells in Carroll County.
No permits were awarded in Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana counties. Nor were any permits granted in Lawrence and Mercer counties in Pennsylvania, according to the state’s Department of Environmental Protection.
The ODNR reported 3,217 permits awarded through Dec. 7, with 2,740 wells drilled and 2,421 producing.
