Nonviolence Parade, Rally Set for Oct. 1
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A nonviolence parade and rally will be held Oct. 1 to kick off Ohio Nonviolence Week. The parade begins at 3 p.m. at the corner of Wick Avenue and Wood Street.
The parade runs to the Covelli Centre, where the rally will begin immediately after the parade ends. Hosting the parade are Mahoning Valley Sojourn to the Past, the city of Youngstown, Youngstown City Schools, the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation and the Youngstown State University Office of Student Diversity Programs and Department of Africana Studies.
Nonprofit organizations, businesses and government agencies are welcome to participate, said Sojourn to the Past director Penny Wells in a release, with awards given for best banner and best float. All displays must have the theme “Nonviolence and Peace.”
