NTSB Gives Update on Youngstown Explosion
BOARDMAN, Ohio — The National Transportation Safety Board held a press conference at the Holiday Inn Express to give updates on the explosion that occurred on Tuesday at the Realty Building in Downtown Youngstown.
Thomas Chapman, a member of the NTSB noted that a below-ground service line that was pressurized, but not actively servicing the building was found to be cut.
“Our mission is to understand not just what happened, but why it happened and to recommend changes to prevent it from happening again,” Chapman says. “We will not be determining the probable cause of the accident while we are on scene, nor will we speculate about the cause.”
