Oak Hill Collaborative Offers $99 Laptops to Residents

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — In an effort to help area residents get online, Oak Hill Collaborative is offering refurbished laptops for $99.

This effort coincides with helping to enroll qualified households in its Affordable Connectivity Program, which saves recipients up to $30 on their monthly internet bill. Residents can purchase the refurbished laptops from the Collaborative by calling 330 406 0271. Supplies are limited and households are limited to one laptop each, according to a press release.

“With the pandemic we all realized how important it was for people to stay connected to fully participate in society,” Steve Kristan, broadband coordinator at Eastgate Regional Council of Governments, said in the release. “Whether they use the internet for telemedicine, remote learning, working from home, finding the new job, ordering groceries, or simply staying connected on social media, having access to the internet and a computer is now a necessity for many people. Thank you to the Oak Hill Collaborative for making $99 laptops available to our residents.”

Laptops have been refurbished by an authorized Microsoft re-furbisher and come with Microsoft Windows 10 and Office 2019 installed. Office includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Publisher.

The $99 purchase price includes a limited warranty and free computer training classes.
