Oak Hill Receives Grant to Help Fund Laptops for Residents

WARREN, Ohio – The Warren Area Chamber of Commerce Education, Civic & Cultural Foundation awarded a $7,500 grant to the Oak Hill Collaborative to help close the digital divide.

The grant will be used to help fund laptops for qualifying residents.

“Many residents in the Valley find themselves on the wrong side of the digital divide,” said Pat Kerrigan, executive director of the Oak Hill Collaborative. “By providing affordable laptops to residents along with free workshops, we strive to eliminate the divide.”

Under Oak Hill’s Hardware for Homes program, qualifying low-income residents can purchase a refurbished laptop for $100. As an alternative to purchasing a laptop, residents can sign up and attend five computer classes and obtain the computer for free.

The laptops are being refurbished by GreenBoard IT of Warren.
