October House Sales in Valley Maintain 2015 Pace

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sales of houses in the tri-county area during October kept on pace with those a year ago, the latest monthly reports show.

Statistics pulled from the website of the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors show 494 houses were sold last month in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties, down 1.2% from the 500 sold in October 2015.

In Trumbull County, 196 houses were sold last month, up 12.0% from October 2015. In Mahoning County, sales over the year were down 6.5%, 229 in October versus 245 a year earlier. In Columbiana County, 69 units were sold last month compared with 80 in October 2015, a 13.8% drop.

In September, 242 houses were sold in Mahoning County, 169 in Trumbull County and 74 in Columbiana County.

Through the first 10 months of the year, 4,757 houses were sold in the three counties, up 1.9% from the 4,667 sold during the first 10 months of 2015.

In Mahoning County, 2,344 houses were sold through October, compared with 2,325 during the first 10 months of 2015. Trumbull County saw 1,721 houses sold during the first 10 months of this year, compared with 1,676 during the same period last year. In Columbiana County, 692 houses were sold through October, compared with 666 units during the comparable period last year.

In Columbiana County, the average sale price in October was $115,980, up from $101,449 a year earlier and from $110,795 in September.

In Mahoning County, the average sale price in October was $114,207, up from $104,168 in October 2015 and from $110,331 in September. Trumbull County saw its average sale price decline over the year, $95,121 in October compared to $98,500 a year earlier but up from $94,519 in September.
