October New Business Filings Down in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio – New business filings in Ohio are ahead of 2014 year to date, despite October’s filings being down from a year ago, reports the office of Secretary of State Jon Husted.

During October 7,838 new entities filed to do business in Ohio, down from 8,300 that filed in October 2014. Year-to-date, 83,215 new businesses have formed in Ohio, ahead of the 79,968 that had filed documents at the same point in 2014. T

he pace puts 2015 on track to be another record-breaking year for new business formation, Husted’s office said.

New business filings are documents that declare the formation of a business entity, including for-profit, nonprofit and professional corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, limited partnerships and limited liability partnerships.

Filing as a business in Ohio does not guarantee the company will begin operations, be profitable or create jobs
