ODNR Issues 11 Permits for Utica Wells
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources awarded 11 new permits for horizontal wells in eastern Ohio’s Utica shale last week, according to the agency’s latest update.
Triad Hunter LLC secured four horizontal well permits, Gulfport Energy Corp. was awarded three permits, and EM Energy Ohio received two permits, all of them in Monroe County.
Eclipse Resources secured two permits for wells in Guernsey County, according to ODNR.
As of July 1, 2,540 permits horizontal well permits have been issued in Ohio’s Utica, 2,039 wells have been drilled, and 1,587 horizontal wells are in production.
ODNR reports 23 rigs were operating in the Utica during the week.
No new permits were issued for horizontal wells in Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana counties for the week, according to ODNR.
Nor were new Utica permits issued for neighboring Lawrence or Mercer counties in western Pennsylvania, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
