Chesapeake Gets 3 Permits to Drill in Carroll County
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued just three permits for horizontal wells during the week ended Nov. 4, according to the agency’s latest update.
ODNR awarded all three permits to Chesapeake Exploration LLC for wells on the Wiandt farm in Perry Township, Carroll County.
As of Nov. 4, ODNR reports that 1,715 oil and natural gas wells are in production across eastern Ohio’s Utica. To date, ODNR has issued 2,665 permits and energy companies exploring the shale play have drilled 2,166 wells.
ODNR reported that there were 24 rigs operating in the Utica last week.
