Oh-Penn Educator Program Seeks Host Manufacturers

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Area manufacturers are invited to participate in the Summer 2015 Educator in the Manufacturing Workplace program.

The program, presented by the OH-Penn Manufacturing Collaborative and IndustryNeedsYou, provides educators the opportunity to see firsthand what happens at area manufacturers.

The goal is for the educators to then craft lesson plans to show their students how what they learn applies to their future jobs and careers. The experience allows educators to learn about the soft skills modern manufacturers need, the organizations say.

Employers are asked to provide:

  • 32 hours of experience at their company between June 19 and Aug. 7.
  • A point of contact for the educator and program coordinator.
  • A planned schedule with an outline of purposeful activities for the educator.
  • Access to multiple personnel and subject matter experts employed in various occupations along the life cycle of the product made at the business.

The deadline for employers to register to participate is May 15. The application form is available here.

Educators have until June 5 to apply.

Orientation will take place in June. The wrap-up session for Pennsylvania educators will take place Aug. 12 and the session for Ohio educators is Aug. 13.
