Oh Wow! Gives 7000 Free Passes to Public Libraries
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Oh Wow! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology has distributed more than 7000 free admission passes to its center, handed out by its board’s Friend-raising Campaign in support of nine local libraries’ Summer Reading programs.
The passes have been distributed to The Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County, Columbiana Public Library, New Castle Public Library, Girard Free Library, Hubbard Free Library, Trumbull-Warren County Public Library, East Palestine Memorial Public Library, Ashtabula County District Library and Kinsman Free Public Library.
“This is important because research is clear: children are able to make significant gains academically if they read during the long summer break, and our libraries are critical partners in reducing summer brain drain. Our Friend-raising campaign raises significant dollars that enable us to offer free admission passes to OH WOW! as an incentive to participating students in these summer reading programs,” said Suzanne Barbati, president and executive director of Oh Wow in a statement.
OH WOW! is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and all donations to its Friend-raising Campaign are tax deductible. Donations can be made by check, payable to OH WOW! in the mail, online at OhWowKids.org/support/give-today, or through The Youngstown Foundation Support Fund at YoungstownFoundation.org/give/donate-now.aspx, which will grant OH WOW! an additional 5%.
