Oh Wow! Hosts Da Vinci Surgical System

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Students in fourth through sixth grade will have an opportunity to learn about and demo the Da Vinci Surgical System through a partnership with Oh Wow! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology and the YWCA of Youngstown.

On June 18, the Summer Manufacturing Institute 2018 kicks off with its Medical Manufacturing session. Students will spend the day interacting with doctors who use the Da Vinci Surgical System in the area and will have a chance to demo the machine. After camp, Dr. Igor Milosevic from The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods will answer questions from Oh Wow! visitors about the Da Vinci.

The Da Vinci Surgical System is a robotic surgical system made by Intuitive Surgical Inc. of California. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2000, it is designed to facilitate complex surgery using a minimally invasive approach and is controlled by a surgeon from a console.
