Ohio Closes In on Record for New Businesses

COLUMBUS, Ohio – With 14,140 new business filings in October, Ohio entrepreneurs are close to breaking the record yearly total set in 2020.

Ohioans have submitted a total of 170,740 new business filings through October this year versus last year’s record 171,073 new filings, according to the Ohio Secretary of State’s office.

“We are witnessing the hard work and enterprise of Ohio entrepreneurs not only breaking records, but making a difference in their communities,” said Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose in a release. “Despite residual economic uncertainties from the coronavirus and anti-business policies coming from Washington, Ohioans are taking chances to provide for their families and build their own way through a pandemic.”

The secretary of state’s OhioBusinessCentral.gov website made establishing a business easier and less expensive, according to LaRose.
