YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – More than 7.2 million barrels of oil and 673 billion cubic feet of natural gas were drawn from Ohio’s Utica-Point Pleasant shale play in the third quarter, according to figures from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

And with just seven wells, natural gas production in Trumbull County was 119.17 million cubic feet, led by the Kibler 2-3H well in Lordstown, operated by Pin Oak Energy Partners LLC. The countywide total was also down from the second quarter, when 127.83 million cubic feet were produced. There were also 1,572 barrels of oil produced, with 877 coming from the Kibler 1H well in Lordstown.

Statewide, the top-producing well was Ascent Resources Utica’s Geno E Smf 5H well in Jefferson County, which produced 3.244 billion cubic feet of natural gas. Oil production was led by Eclipse Resources’ Fineran B 7H well in Guernsey County with 143,583 barrels.
