Ohio General Assembly OKs $50M for Arts Groups
COLUMBUS – An additional $50 million in relief for nonprofit performing arts organizations and museums has been approved by the Ohio General Assembly. The legislation awaits signature by Gov. Mike DeWine, which is expected, according to a press release from Donna S. Collins, executive director of the Ohio Arts Council.
This second round of arts relief funding will be administered by the Ohio Department of Development, and not the Ohio Arts Council. The funds come from the federal American Rescue Plan Act.
The arts council, however, will promote the funding to state organizations, according to Collins. It will disseminate information about the application process grants as soon as the development department releases it.
Priority for the funding will be given to arts groups that previously did not receive CARES Act funding from the Ohio Arts Council, Collins said.
