Ohio National Guard to Assist with Blight Removal
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Ohio National Guard will begin a demolition project on the South Side today as part of a two-week initiative.
The demolition work will support the South Side Blight Removal and Greening project through the Department of Defense Civil-Military Innovative Readiness Training Program. The work will continue through July 22, according to a news release from the city.
The training program builds partnerships between U.S. communities and the DOD to meet training and readiness requirements for active-duty, Guard and Reserve service members and units while addressing public and civil-society needs service.
The Guard’s 1192nd Engineer Company, based at the Camp Ravenna Joint Military Training Center, will provide primary support for the project.
