Ohio Unemployment

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans filed 8,736 initial traditional unemployment claims last week, which was 1,363 fewer than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.

State residents also filed 50,732 continued traditional unemployment claims the week of Dec. 7-13, which was 3,079 more than the previous week.

Of the initial unemployment claims filed, 1,479 have been flagged for more stringent identity verification to ensure they are not fraudulent.

In September, Ohio’s unemployment rate was 4.8%. The national unemployment rate was 4.4%. Both the state and national labor force participation rates in September were 62.4%.
