Ohio Weekly Unemployment Claims Drop
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Initial jobless claims in Ohio fell to 7,544 during the week ended Oct. 16, or 2,297 claims fewer than the previous week, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported Thursday.
Ohioans also filed 45,750 continued unemployment claims during the week – that’s 4,983 fewer claims than a week earlier, the agency said. There were 53,304 total claims for the week.
The unemployment rate in Ohio during August stood at 5.4% compared to the national average of 5.2% for the same month. The state’s labor force participation rate was 60.8% during that month, while the national labor force participation rate in August stood at 61.7%.
