PA OH Gives Raises Nearly $1.3M for Nonprofits

SHARON, Pa. – A community-wide fundraising effort in Mercer, Lawrence and Trumbull counties has raised over $1 million for nonprofit organizations.

The Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio’s second annual PA OH Gives virtual fundraiser took place June 19 through 25 and benefited more than 60 nonprofits in the three counties. More than 1,900 unique donations were received, raising $1,273,301.

PA OH Gives began last year as charitable organizations were being crushed by the additional demands and challenges brought on by the pandemic. It garnered overwhelming support and made it clear that the community is eager to help.

“This was an excellent opportunity for the community to step in and provide another level of support for our amazing local organizations,” said Kyle English, the foundation’s executive director in a statement. “By providing 1,911 separate donations, it confirmed once again that no amount is too small to make a difference in the lives of your fellow neighbors.”

The Zekelman Fund, Dr. Robert and Vera Lartz Charitable Foundation, O’Brien Children Memorial Fund, Anderson Charitable Foundation, Meszaros Family Foundation, FNB Wealth Management and the Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio pooled their resources and provided over $140,000.

The virtual fundraiser, dubbed Giving Week, is designed to help nonprofits reach new donor bases, rally existing donors, and  showcase what they do. Donors can browse nonprofits and give to as many as they want. Financial goals ranged from $500 to $100,000, and most of the organizations were able to meet or exceed those amounts.
