Events Scheduled for Manufacturing Day Oct. 2

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Hudson Fasteners, in conjunction with the Mahoning Valley Manufacturers Coalition and America Makes, will commemorate Manufacturing Day Oct. 2 with a series of events.

The event is intended to expand knowledge of manufacturing, additive manufacturing and rapid prototyping, improve the public perception of manufacturing, and call attention to career opportunities, organizers say..

There are nearly 1,200 manufacturers in the Mahoning Valley region, they note. Manufacturing accounts for 10.9% of all jobs in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties in Ohio and Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania. Manufacturing also represents $2.66 billion in total earnings for the region.

Mayor John McNally will issue a proclamation highlighting manufacturing day. Other activities  include a session on 3-D printing for local manufacturers hosted by America Makes, a tour of America Makes and closing remarks by U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-13 Ohio.

Manufacturing Day is co-produced by the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International, the National Association of Manufacturers, the Manufacturing Institute, the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership and Industrial Strength Marketing. Media partners include the Edge Factor and the Science Channel and the national movie partner is American Made Movie.
