Patrick Named President of Walnut Grove

CANFIELD, Ohio – Corey Patrick has been named president of The Walnut Grove board of directors, taking over for Amanda Watanakunakorn. 

The organization, which operates an all-inclusive playground in Canfield also added six board members: Karen Conkey, Greg Boerio, Sharlynn Fabilli, Lorene Pfahler, Dan Procopio and Cody Stoll.

Among Patrick’s goals is to build and create partnerships with community leaders to develop programming to be held at the playground. 

“As we build out our facility, we need to develop ways to become sustainable,” Patrick said in a statement. “The facility is growing, which  means our operating budget is growing, so we need to be cognizant of that.” 

The park recently completed phase two of its accessible playground last year and since then, the board has continued to be active. The board has had discussions as to what will come next, and while there are many additions they would like to make, it all comes down to funding, Patrick said. 

In an effort to aid future projects, The Walnut Grove has set the date for the Fourth Annual Swing, Wine and Dine fundraiser, sponsored by Huntington Bank. The fundraiser will take place Feb. 1 at the Maronite Center in Youngstown.
